State unit JD (U) president Hangkhanpao Taithul has claimed that the party is currently in talk with about 10 political figures from the Congress party, including MLAs and ex-MLAs willing to shift camp.
Speaking to reporters at the office of Janata Dal (United) at Keishamthong Hodam Leirak today and Hangkhanpao claimed that in addition to Congress vice president Dr Kh Ratankumar, another 10 prominent Congressmen are also in talks to shift allegiance to JD (U) .
He claimed that as per requests from Dr Kh Ratankumar, JD (U) representatives had met him at his residence yesterday and an understanding was reached for him to officially join JD (U) at its office today.
He further said that till now 17 intending candidates have submitted their applications to contest the upcoming election on JDU ticket and the last date is on January 21.However, for people with socialist mindset, like Dr Kh Ratankumar, JD (U) will always have its doors open, he added.
Adding that there are allegations from the Congress that JD (U) was trying to entice away their candidates under false promises, he added that JD (U) does not involve itself in such petty politics.
All those who joined JD (U) are people who have placed faith in the party and in the ideologies of its leader Nitish Kumar.
Expressing confidence that the JD (U) will win a minimum of 6 seats in the upcoming election, Hangkhanpao Taithul said the party will not form alliance with any other party other than BJP after the poll.
