Search operations conducted in Imphal West, Kakching

Imphal, January 17 2022:
As part of security measures being taken up for the upcoming assembly elections and Republic Day celebration, a large team of Imphal West/district police conducted search operations in different parts of the district on Monday.
According to a police report, a team of Imphal West district police commando led by Subedar Birla carried out search in Uripok Sorbol Thingel area from 6am till 7:55am.Around 110 houses were searched and 180 residents including three bail outs of the area verified during the operation but no arrest was made.
On the other hand, another district police team led by commando OC conducted operation at BT road, Pologround area and Leima Shopping area from 3:05pm till 3:50pm.Altogether 160 people were detained, verified and later released.
In Kakching district, police teams comprising personnel of CDOs and Pallel police station assisted by two female CDO personnel and one WPC carried out search operation in and around Pallel Bazar on Monday as a precautionary measure taken up in view of the upcoming Republic Day and 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly Elections.
As per a police report, the search operation conducted under the command of Kakching CDO OC inspector Md Abash Khan under the joint supervision of SDPO K Gitchandra Singh SP Shrey Vats started at 5:45 am and continued till 7 am.
The Police conducted house-to-house search in about 150 residences and verified all the residents with their respective voter IDs and Aadhaar cards.
However no one was detained or arrested, the report said.
