Imphal, January 17 2022:
Hitting out at the Congress party, BJP State unit chief spokesperson Ch Bijoy has called Congress as the biggest threat and enemy of democracy.
There is no internal democracy in the Congress party, he added.
The broadside against the Congress comes just one day after former Chief Minister O Ibobi labelled the BJP as a party which has no room for minorities and women representation.
Interestingly, the BJP spokesperson also took the NPP, which is a major partner in the current BJP led Government to task with some acerbic remarks.
Ch Bijoy added that all presidents of INC have been from the 'Gandhi Family' and that no one from outside the family has been elected as president.
In 1975, former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi had declared a state of emergency in order to save her 'Prime Ministership' and had misused power to put all Opposition and political workers under arrest, he alleged.
During the emergency democratic and rights of the people were violated.
Alleging that there were many corruption charges against the then Congress Government under Chief Minister O Ibobi, Ch Bijoy added that there are no allegations of scam or corruption against the present Government under the leadership of Chief Minister N Biren Singh.
Claiming that the Congress party is currently disoriented, he added that lack of confidence is easily visible by the projection of the number of seats they can win in the upcoming election which has gone down from 45 to just 15 .
Ch Bijoy said the end is near for the Congress party.
Regarding the claim made by NPP that they will win at least 20 seats, Ch Bijoy alleged that NPP seeks personal gain by installing a puppet Government and has no interest in the welfare of the people.
