KWWO assembly resolves to control drug menace

Kangpokpi Women Welfare Organisation (KWWO) organised its New Year Assembly (Kumbul Kikhop) at El Shaddai, Kilkhong Veng in Kangpokpi on Monday and resolved to work for controlling the drug menace in the town and save the youth from abusing drug.
The New Year meeting was attended by KWWO president Hekim Hangshing, secretary Irene Misao, Kangpokpi Town Churches Fellowship chairman Rev K Hangshing, Kangpokpi Town Committee women affairs Seijang Sitlhou, chairman Moltinchang Veng and women representatives of each ward in the town among others.
The meeting also acknowledged commitment and selfless service towards the people of Kangpokpi AC by local MLA Nemcha Kipgen.
Speaking at the meet, Hekim Hangshing stressed the importance of a good mother in making a good family and society and exhorted the women of Kangpokpi to be the role models and help in promoting a good society through peace and harmony.
While acknowledging the contributions of womenfolk of Kangpokpi in attaining district-hood and for the welfare of the district, the president said that every single mother has their own role to play in the society.
"It is time for the women to come out from the kitchen and play their role constructively, " said the KWWO president, while advocating for women empowerment.
KWWO secretary Irene Misao presented annual report which highlighted the activities undertaken by the organisation in the previous year.
According to the report, KWWO had helped a poor mother suffering from serious kidney problems, helped the district administration with the support of the local MLA during the pandemic crisis in the first and second wave, especially in vaccination drive, and contributed tirelessly for the welfare of the town.
KTC chairman Moltinchang Veng highlighted the problem of drug abuse among, the youth in the.town and encouraged women of the town to take an active part in controlling the menace of drug so as to save the youth from the jaws of death.
