Bodies of John, Sashikanta claimed

Imphal, January 17 2022:
Bodies of Abujam John and Abujam Sashikanta of Samurou Awang Leikai, who were gunned down by unidentified assailants and kept at RIMS morgue after post mortem, have been claimed by the JAC formed against their killings and family members on Monday for conducting necessary last rituals.
The bodies were claimed after a Memorandum of Understanding (MolJ) was signed during a meeting held late Sunday evening attended by JAC representatives, chief minister N Biren Singh, Wangoi MLA O Lukhoi, DC Imphal West, SP Imphal West.
The JAC too withdrew its agitation with immediate effect following the signing the MoU.
The demands of the JAC include arrest and punishment of all those involved in the killing of John and Sashikanta, opening of a police outpost at Samurou or round the clock police duty to prevent unwanted incident at Samurou, installation of CCTV cameras in different parts of Samurou, providing government job to next to kin of deceased Abujam John and provision of regular salary to Abujam Sashikanta's family as he died while in service uniform.
