Director of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Services Dr Ng Ibotombi has said that the staff of the directorate are still working even on off days to contain the spread of African Swine Fever (ASF) .
He also said that the staff of ASF control room have been doing the field work even on weekends following the instruction of the Ministry concerned.
In a press statement, Dr Ibotombi said that the staff of the Directorate have been wrongly accused of skipping office.
Issuing a clarification, he said that the veterinary doctors and staff of the department have been taking up containment measures of ASF in all seven valley districts by forming 35 Rapid Response Teams since the second week of October.
Saying that biometrics of some of its staff were not recorded on December 15 due to power cut but they nonetheless signed the attendance on paper, he added that the staff accused of neglecting duty based on the biometrics record was unfortunate.
The blind allegation has tarnished the image of the directorate, he said and added that the staff of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Services are still working round the clock to contain the spread of ASF.
