Imphal, February 12, 2011:
In the Northeast region, Manipur is at the top in using chemical fertiliser for agricultural purposes, soil chemist Ph Rajendro of State Agriculture Department has pointed out.
Inaugurating a day-long trainers training programme held under the theme of Chinzakta Mipal Tangdaba' at the conference hall of EEMA at Keishampat Junction today, Rajendro observed that too much dependence on chemical fertiliser for any agricultural purpose is not advisable.
If we use fertiliser without disturbing ecological balance, we can produce safer and hygienic food, he added.
Organised by All Manipur Progressive Farmers' Association (AMPFA) under the sponsorship of Department of Agriculture, the training programme was attended by farmers selected under IPM and INM from different parts of the State.
The inaugural function of the training programme was also attended AMPFA president Joy as functional president and co-ordinator of AMPFA Thoiba Konthoujam as guest of honour.
