Accused sent to judicial custody till May 21

The Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal West has sent the accused in the recent Paona Bazar stabbing case to judicial custody till May 21 .
The accused, Khuraijam Davish (30) had stabbed a 40-year-old woman on her neck twice using a pair of scissors on May 4 morning at Paona Keithel, under City police station, Imphal West.
The woman was severely injured and was rushed to hospital for medical treatment.
Police arrested Kh Davish on the spot and was interrogated.
Kh Davish hails from Sagolband Salam Leikai, Lairembi Leirak.
He was produced before the Court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal West today after completion of the police custody period.
In the Court today, the Assistant Public Prosecutor submitted that the accused was interrogated following his arrest and it revealed that he had confronted the woman, demanding her to return some money she allegedly stole from him.
According to the statement of the accused, on May 2 at around 7 pm, the woman allegedly stole Rs 3,500 from his pocket.
While the accused repeatedly requested her to return the money saying it was his salary, the woman refused.
The accused returned home that day without getting the money back.
The Prosecutor continued that on May 4, the accused searched for the woman and located her near Friends Talkies at Paona Bazar at around 9 am.
He requested the women to return the allegedly stolen money.
The woman refused and the two engaged in a heated argument over the money.
In a fit of rage, he warned the woman that he would kill her if she refused to return the money.
When the woman told him to do whatever he wanted, the accused approached a Pan shop on the pretext of smoking a cigarette.
The accused then grabbed a pair of scissors from the shop and stabbed her on the neck two times.
The woman tried to escape, but fell on the ground due to the injuries.
While she was lying on the ground, the accused hit and punched her face many times, said the Prosecutor.
The accused had stolen the pair of scissors from the shop with an intention to murder the woman, and he stabbed her twice on her neck in full public view, said the Prosecutor, praying the Court to send the accused to judicial custody.
The Court, after hearing the submissions of the APP and on perusal of the case record, sent the accused to judicial custody till May 21 .
