Imphal, November 30 2024:
The Federation of Civil Society Organisations (FOCS) Manipur has lambasted the Mizoram Government for meddling in the internal affairs of Manipur by way of demanding President's Rule in the State.
Notably, Rajya Sabha Member from Mizoram K Vanlalvena recently stated that President's Rule should be imposed in Manipur as to bring a solution to the Manipur.
Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma echoed the same line:a few days later.
The statements of the Mizoram MP and the Mizoram Chief Minister are manifestation of the larger conspiracy to create a Chin-Kuki-Zo Nation State by carving out parts of India, Myanmar and Bangladesh, FOCS said in a press release.
The 19 months old Manipur crisis has its roots in poppy cultivation by illegal immigrants and the money earned from the drug business is funding the aggression.
By escalating the aggression, Chin-Kuki-Zo people are now demanding a separate Nation, it said.
The Mizoram Chief Minister and the MP should not commit the faux pas of meddling in the internal affairs of other States.
They have no business in the Government of Manipur's efforts to safeguard its territory and save its people from the scourge of drug menace.
Vanlalvena and Lalduhoma must stop acting like a stupid donkey barking in place of a dog, FOCS advised.
Pointing out that the Government of Mizoram has prohibited selling land to Myanmar Nationals, engagement in trade and business, issuance of Aadhaar cards to foreigners, enlistment in voters' list and issuance of driving licences, FOCS questioned as to why the Government of Mizoram is aggrieved when the Government of Manipur works to protect its indigenous people, safeguard its territorial boundary, identify illegal immigrants and crackdown on drug cartels.
Meanwhile, Indian intelligence agencies need to study thoroughly why the Mizo National Front and the Mizoram Chief Minister have been opposing border fencing along India's international borders in the North East which is aimed at enhancing India's internal security, checking illegal immigration and cross border smuggling of arms and drugs, it added.
