Senapati, October 25 2023:
The All Naga Students Association Manipur (ANSAM) has declared that it will continue picketing all Government offices in hill districts in protest against inaction of the State Government over the internet row.
A statement issued by the Information & Publicity Wing of ANSAM has expressed appreciation to its sub-ordinate units, constituent units and the public for their unflinching support and cooperation in the picketing of Government offices on October 24 and 25 demanding restoration of mobile internet services and declaration of interview result for the appointment of 190 posts of Assistant Professor held in September, 2021 .
While expressing strong resentment against the lack of positive response from the Government, ANSAM informed that their mode of agitation will be intensified if the Government still refuses to fulfill their legitimate demands.
It added that it is time for the Government to address the shortage of teaching faculty in Government colleges by declaring the aforementioned recruitment result as part of "College Fagathansi Mission" as reportedly promised and assured by Chief Minister N Biren Singh.
According to ANSAM, a press release issued by the Higher and Technical Education Department on June 23, 2022 had confirmed that the interview process for the post of 190 Assistant Professors had been completed and it had been referred to the Department of Personnel for declaration of result.
Thus, it questioned the prolonged delay from June 23, 2022 till the present day at the end of the Department of Personnel.
"The internet is not merely a communication system but it is a chosen platform for research and information among others.
Lifting the order only for few broadband users and Government offices for administrative purposes with exorbitant rate does not provide a solution to the necessities in times of urgency and cannot be a justification to its proportionality of the ongoing violence and prevailing situation", said ANSAM.
Therefore, ANSAM has requested all its constituent units and sub-ordinate bodies to strictly enforce the picketing of Government offices and further appealed to the Government officials and public for their co-operation and understanding during the course of the agitation.
