Imphal, October 25 2023:
Reacting to the controversial statement of BJP that none of their MLAs had demanded Separate Administration in Manipur, the vice president of the State unit of Janata Dal (United) has asserted that no leader should put the unity and integrity of the State for sale just to please their higher-ups or to protect the party he/she belongs.
Notably, BJP Manipur Pradesh president A Sharda had some days back contended that no BJP MLA is demanding Separate Administration but misunderstanding among the communities gave rise to the demand of Separate Administration.
Speaking to the media after donating relief items and cash to the displaced people from Torbung Mamang Leikai taking refuge at Kairenphabi relief camp today, Sanjoy Ahanthem continued that the statement given by Sharda was 'irresponsible' .
Saying that it was all the 10 Kuki MLAs including seven BJP MLAs (of whom two are Ministers) who submitted the memorandum to the Prime Minister and Union Home Minister demanding Separate Administration for the people they represent in Manipur, Sanjoy maintained that the statement of Sharda was irresponsible and unbecoming of the position she holds .
Does Sharda consider her party to be more important than the State or was she taking the people for fools, he asked.
Sanjoy also accused the Central leadership of not taking the crisis in Manipur seriously.
Saying that the Centre can end the violence in Manipur in a couple of days if they are committed to protect lives and properties, he urged the Central Government to end the violence which will complete six months in some days and carry out the rehabilitation and resettlement work of the displaced people on a war footing.
