Imphal, October 25 2023:
While asserting that Meeteis evicted from Moreh and currently taking shelter in relief camps do not want to live at fabricated houses but want resettlement in their own houses, Meetei Council Moreh (MCM) urged the government take up necessary steps for resettlement of evicted Meeteis at the border town.
According to a statement of Meetei Council Moreh, state forces deployed at the border town are still disallowed to perform duties well and the town remains lawless.
Even 27 IRB personnel sent to Moreh on October 14 are still camping at KLP of 5 Assam Rifles and unable to reach the border town and this indeed shows state government's weakness, the statement said and stressed the need for restoring law & order at Moreh as the town bordering Myanmar is a part of Manipur.
The council further appealed to the state government to work as per pulse of the evicted people of Moreh and settle them at the border town at the earliest.
The Meetei Council Moreh also thanked Langsai Thouna for restricting movement of Central forces and transportation of food for business towards Moreh by opening checkpoint at Kakching Lamkhai.
It said that Langsai Thouna volunteers are manning the check-point at Kakching Lamkhai throughout day and night on behalf of evicted Meeteis of Moreh.
