Experts to assess of violence-affected areas

Imphal, October 25 2023:
As decided during a meeting of the Agriculture and Horticulture Committee chaired by chief minister N Biren Singh on October 17, a team of experts will start inspection and assessment of areas affected by the ethnic violence from October 26 onwards and conduct awareness programmes at the inspected areas.
The phase-wise inspection and assessment with the main objective of developing economy of violence affected areas afresh will be conducted jointly by Agriculture and Horticulture Committee and a team of experts headed by the agriculture director.
The first phase will begin at Pukhao village in Imphal East district on Thursday and the experts' team will be headed by agriculture director.
The team also comprises d irector (fisheries), director (wety & animal husbandry), chief engineer (water resources), chief engineer (MI), chief engineer (CADA), head of department of agronomy (CAU) professor L Nabachandra, ICAR principal scientist Dr I Meghachandra, All Manipur Progressive Farmers' Association president K Thoiba, IFM president Kh Gopen Luwang and LOUSHAL president Mutum Churamani.
After assessment of Pukhao areas on Thursday, the team will visit Phayeng village in Imphal West on October 27, Torbung in Bishnupur district on October 28 and Sugnu areas in Kakching district on October 28.The committee will further notify areas to be inspected in the second phase, committee convener K Devdutta Sharma informed.
