Army inaugurates skill development centre

Imphal, March 25 2025:
Indian Army in collaboration with Aseem Foundation (Pune-based NGO) dedicated a skill development centre for bead jewellery at P Moulding village in Kangpokpi district under Operation Sadbhavana on Tuesday.
The bead jewellery unit aims to foster skill development and self-empowerment among local women, providing them with valuable resources to enhance their livelihood.
The project was inaugurated by the Spear Corps general officer commanding lieutenant general Abhijit S Pendharkar in the presence of Red Shield Division GOC major general SS Kartikeya, representatives from Aseem Foundation, senior Indian army officers and ladies, village head, veterans and locals.
A five-day workshop to train 15 women from the village, by Pune-based jewellery designer Rajasshri Parashar was also undertaken.
The ladies were trained on the basics of bead jewellery which included creating wire loops, identification of beads, stringing, knotting and other related aspects.
The facility will be sustained by Aseem Foundation and developed into a commercial entity, which will enable flow of income for the ladies.
