AR holds tribute event, dedicates old age home

Assam Rifles organised a solemn wreath-laying ceremony on Thursday to honour the memory of the brave soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice while performing Inter Sector Patrolling Party duty on March 20, 2005, in Yangangpokpi, Manipur.
The ceremony paid special tribute to Havildar Madho Singh Mehta, who laid down his life in the line of duty.
Senior officials from Assam Rifles attended the event, offering their respects to the fallen heroes.
As part of its ongoing commitment to honouring the families of its martyrs, Assam Rifles also felicitated Veer Nari Kausalya Devi, wife of the late NCO, at her residence in Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand, on Thursday, a PRO IGAR (S) release said.
On the other-hand, Assam Rifles dedicated a newly constructed Old Age Home at Kamjong town in Kamjong district, on March 17.The Home was constructed under Operation Sadbhavana Project to improve the lives of vulnerable communities in remote border areas, the PRO informed in another release.
According to the PRO, the elderly population in Kamjong region face significant challenges due to their dependence on local resources and the absence of a stable income.
To address the long-standing need for secure and permanent shelter, the Old Age Association of Kamjong requested Assam Rifles to construct a building with adequate facilities of hygiene and sanitation for an Old Age Home.
The completed building has now been handed over to the village in an inauguration ceremony that witnessed enthusiastic participation from the local community.
The village headman of Kamjong town inaugurated the facility in the presence of the local Pastor, village secretary, and other prominent village authorities.
Over 150 villagers, including men, women, and children, attended the event, reflecting the strong bond between Assam Rifles and the people of Kamjong district.
The Old Age Associa tion, Kamjong is now in the process of provisioning furnishing of the facility thus ensuring that the Old Age' Home provides a safe, accessible, and supportive environment, promoting the physical and emotional well-being of the elderly, it added.
