CFC reaffirms stand to forego festivals

In view of the present unrest situation in the state, Committee of Forward Clubs (CFC), Thongju and Apunba Meira Paibi Lup (AMPL) in a joint meeting held on Saturday reaffirmed their earlier stand to forego celebration of upcoming festivals including Ningol Chakkouba, Diwali, New Year's Eve and New Year in Thongju area.
In a release, CFC secretary Nameirakpam Cheengkhei urged the people to pay respect to those who laid down their lives for upholding the interest of Manipur and its people in the ongoing conflict as their own family members and forgo celebration of any of these festivals for this year.
While alleging that the government is lying to the people to cover up its failure in locating whereabouts of the missing students Avinash Maibam and Ningthoujam Anthony till date despite arrest of some of people suspected to be involved in the abduction of the two, he said that CFC and AMPL will back protests launched up by the JAC.
The secretary also urged the people to join hands and fight as there is no other way than understanding the root cause of the conflict and working together to counter the threats posed to the state and its people.
