5th CME on Antimicrobial Stewardship held

Antimicrobial Stewardship Committee of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, in collaboration with Antimicrobial Stewardship Programme, ICMR, New Delhi organised the 5th Continuing Medical Education (CME) on Antimicrobial Stewardship at the RIMS casualty block NICU Annexe conference hall on Thursday.
In a release, RIMS informed that the inaugural programme was attended by RIMS director Prof G Sunil Kumar Sharma as chief guest, medical superintendent Prof N Sanjib Singh as president and dean (Academic) Prof Th Meera Devi as guest of honour.
It further said that the CME was held with the aim to enhance awareness and strengthen antimicrobial stewardship practices among healthcare professionals, for addressing the growing challenge of antimicrobial resistance (AMR).
Experts in the field discussed key strategies to optimise the use of anti-microbials, ensuring effective treatment while minimising resistance.
The programme was participated by medical faculty, dental staff, resident doctors, postgraduate students, nursing staff, dedicated to improving patient care through responsible antibiotic use.
The initiative aligns with global efforts to combat AMR and promote sustainable healthcare practices,
it added.
