Imphal, July 18 2024:
Manipur Pony and Polo Players Welfare Association has urged chief minister N Biren to take up initiatives to assist in arranging fodder and water for ponies.
Addressing the media at Hapta Kangjeibung here on Thursday, association's general secretary Chongtham Ajit expressed gratitude to the CM for earmarking grazing ground for ponies owned by individuals and polo clubs at Mapal Kangjeibung and Hapta Kangjeibung.
Consequent to the arrangement, over 230 ponies were brought to Hapta Kangjeibung only for nearly 100 to be reclaimed by their owners due to absence of fodder/grass.
Moreover, shortage of grass has forced the pony owners to contribute money to buy fodders.
With Lamphelpat submerged due to the recent flood, they are now relying on fodder bought from Toubul in Bishnupur district even as some of the owners are unable to make the contribution, he said while urging the CM to help the pony owners in providing fodder and drinking water.
