Imphal, October 25 2025:
The Uripok Apunba Lup (UAL) and Uripok Nupi Apunba Lup (UNAL) rolled out the welcome carpet for 600 Ningols and children for a grand Ningol Chakkouba feast held for displaced people residing at Lamboikhongnangkhong and Langol Leima Khullen relief camps at Langol Ningthou Laibung today.
For many of the Ningols who no longer have a place called home, it was a sort of a homecoming feast, a day symbolizes the unbreakable bonds between brothers and sisters and married daughters and parents.
For over two years the displaced persons, particularly the womenfolk have been braving the situation, hoping to see a brighter day and the simple but meaningful act of organising a feast in their names brought mist in the eyes of many.

Among others, the event was attended by former Chief Minister N Biren Singh and NPP State unit president Y Joykumar.
Speaking at the event, N Biren stated that the widespread displacement in Manipur stems from the malicious agenda of certain individuals.
Saying that the internally displaced people (IDPs) are being constrained to stay in relief camps, he emphasized that the IDPs need organizational and political support until they can return to their homes.
Biren continued that the displacement of people in Manipur is due to a broader issue affecting the State, not personal problems.
Although IDPs from Moreh and Churachandpur could not be resettled, efforts were made to resettle IDPs from Sugnu, Serou, and Torbung at their native villages while a popular Government was in place, he said and added that some resettlement efforts were successful.
The former Chief Minister stated that he, however, is unaware of the specific steps being taken currently to resettle the internally displaced persons (IDPs) as Manipur has been under President's Rule since the past six to seven months.
Stating that the construction of houses for IDPs who cannot be resettled anytime soon appears to have stalled, he emphasized that whether under President's Rule or a popular Government, those in charge must support the IDPs, as their displacement is not due to personal issues.
Biren, meanwhile, lauded UAL and UNAL for hosting the event to show solidarity to IDPs.
Saying that a similar Ningol Chakkouba feast for IDPs will be held at his residence and other locations tomorrow, he appealed to the IDPs to remain hopeful despite the hardships they are enduring.
He further appealed to the inmates of the Lamboikhongnangkhong and Langol Leima Khullen relief camps to contact him through the Uripok Apunba Lup (UAL) if they encounter any issue.
Y Joykumar, on the other hand, stated that the National People's Party (NPP) will take all possible measures to resettle IDPs, as they cannot remain in relief camps forever.
He also stated that thousands of people have been languishing in relief camps since May 3, 2023, and they are eager to return to their homes.
NPP will take all possible measures to resettle IDPs, he reiterated.
