Imphal, May 22 2025:
Stating that the Gwaltabi incident of May 20 is not a trivial matter and should not be taken lightly, the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) has demanded the resignation of the Chief Secretary, the Director General of Police, and the Security Advisor.
Addressing the media at Lamphelpat yesterday, the COCOMI convenor Khuraijam Athouba elaborated that the personnel of the 4th Mahar Regiment prevented a bus carrying journalists to the Shirui Lily Festival from proceeding beyond Gwaltabi due to the "Manipur" signage on the vehicle.
He said that the conduct of army personnel is antiManipur and a direct challenge to the idea of Manipur.
The conduct of the army personnel is anti-Manipur and shows disregard for the State's historical and cultural identity, Athouba added.
Urging the relevant authorities to disclose within 48 hours under whose direction the team of journalists was instructed to conceal the "Manipur" signage on the bus, Athouba demanded that the Governor tenders an apology to the people of Manipur.
He also asserted that the Chief Secretary, Director General of Police and Security Advisor must resign within 48 hours.
Athouba said that COCOMI will launch other forms of agitation if their demands are not entertained.
Meanwhile, he noted that the Government of India's initiative to open the National Highways, particularly the Imphal-Dimapur road on March 8, ultimately ended in failure.
Asking whether the Centre's President's Rule Government had surrendered to narco-terrorists, he appealed to the people to demand the withdrawal of the President's Rule from the State.
