Sanitizers, face masks distributed to IDPs

Amid a surge in the number of Covid cases across India and in Manipur, as precautionary measures, hand sanitisers and face masks have been distributed to internally displaced persons staying in relief camps within Thangmeiband Assembly Constituency.
Thangmeiband AC MLA, Th Joykisan handed the materials to the IPDs through volunteers during a programme organised at the Khoyathong Tombisana High School relief camp.
The materials extended were meant for people staying in relief camps opened at Khoyathong Tombisana High School, Thangmeiband Athletic Union (THAU) and Thangmeiband Khomdram Selungba School.
At the event, Th Joykisan underscored the importance of taking necessary precautions and enforcing proper SOPs to prevent Covid infection and spread of the disease among the people, especially among those staying in relief camps.
Manipur recorded three new cases today taking the active number of cases to 8.As relief camps are usually tightly packed with IDPs, the infection may spread rapidly.
Therefore, proper standard operating procedures and precautionary measures must be put in place by the authorities of the camps, the Government and the Health Department Joykisan said.
He emphasised that the authorities overseeing the relief camps must enforce strict rules and not allow visitors without face masks to enter the premises to avoid infection among the inmates.
Expressing concern over the rising temperature in Imphal city and across the State, Joykisan said, a tree plantation campaign will be launched in Thangmeiband Assembly Constituency.
He said the community in the constituency, students of schools and colleges will be engaged in the campaign.
The MLA also expressed condolences to the bereaved families of Kongbrailatpam Nganthoi Shanna and Lamnunthem Singson--two cabin crew members of Air India from Manipur--who lost their lives in the tragic plane crash in Ahmedabad on June 12 .
