Imphal, September 08 2025:
Following Foothill Naga Coordinating Committee's (FNCC) biting statement yesterday, the Liangmai Naga Council, Eastern Zone (LNC-EZ), Manipur has also warned of "serious communal unrest" if camps belonging to Kuki militant groups are relocated in Naga territories.
Reacting to the "disturbing news" circulating across various platforms regarding the alleged proposed shifting of so-called "Thingsat" and "Ebenezer" camps belonging to unlawful Kuki militant groups to Kharam Vaiphei and J Thomkholui villages under Kangchup PS, Kangpokpi Sub-Division, LNC-EZ said that according to "reliable sources" these camps will be renamed as "Lhangkichoi" and "Natheljang" camps respectively.
A press release issued by the Information and Publicity Wing, LNC-EZ stressed that these villages are not random locations but ancestral territories of the Naga people, and any such encroachment is an act of "calculated provocation" .
Warning of "serious communal unrest" if the two camps are established in Kharam Vaiphei or J Thomkholui, it said that any such move will invite repercussions, whose full and sole responsibility should be borne by the State and Central Governments.
Like the FNCC, the LNC-EZ also threatened to seal the vital route between Churachandpur and Kangpokpi and to identify and evict illegal Kuki settlement in Naga ancestral land without delay or negotiation if their land was compromised.
LNC-EZ also recalled that they had withdrawn their agitation after receiving assurances of "due consultation and respect for Naga territories" from the State Government barely a month ago.
In return, they are faced with this "backdoor attempt" to provide safe haven to "foreign militant elements in the very heart of our land", LNC-EZ asserted.
Accusing "Kuki refugees and militants" of misusing Naga territories as cover for various illegal activities and the Ministry of Home Affairs and the State Government of allowing these illicit trade to flourish, LNC-EZ said that the vast wealth amassed through such means have now turned into weapons of oppression against indigenous peoples.
LNC-EZ reminded the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Government of Manipur that their land is not a political commodity.
"It is our identity, inheritance, and lifeblood, and we will defend it at all costs.
We have endured enough betrayals, encroachments and deceits.
This time, we will not back down" it asserted.
