Imphal, March 07 2024:
The Democratic Students Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has highlighted the struggles faced by a majority of CUET (PG) 2024 candidates of the State who have been allocated exam centres outside Manipur while appealing the authorities concerned for reallocation of exam centres.
Addressing a press conference at DESAM Office at Kwakeithel today, Nongthombam Thoithoiba, secretary general DESAM asserted that CUET (PG) 2024 which is set to commence from March 11 is posing many challenges to the State candidates as many of them cannot afford to travel outside Manipur to appear for the exam due to the effects of the ongoing conflict.
Stating that travel by roadways is not a possibility due to the crisis, he stressed on the high cost of travelling to-and-fro by flight and the additional costs of seeking accommodation in hotels.
This would prove to be even more of a financial burden for those students who are currently staying in relief camps, he added.
Seeking the attention of the Chief Minister, Education Minister and Union Minister of State for Education, he urged them to ensure reallocation of exam centres within safe and secure areas of the Manipur valley.
In addition, the DESAM secretary general shared that a written representation has also been submitted to the Chief Minister, Education Minister, Union Minister of State for Education and Manipur University Vice Chancellor today in this connection.
