Truck driver, assistant thrashed in Moreh

Heavily armed Kuki volunteers on Thursday brutally assaulted driver and assistant driver of a dumper truck on their way back after offloading materials for barrack construction of the police at Moreh IB .
According to police, the armed volunteers also seized the dumper (Hyva) truck and snatched the mobile phones of the victims identified as driver Md Elaa (30), son of Md Ibungo of Kairang Chingya Leikai, and handyman Md Emin (29) son of Md Sanaton.
The victims lodged a complaint at Moreh police stating urging authorities concerned to initiate legal actions against the perpetrators and to recover the seized truck and mobile phones.
Subsequently, the police filed a case regarding the incident, it added.
"The two victims were returning on the Hyva Dumper truck (AS 25 FC 0749) after transporting the stones at Moreh police IB around 1.30 on Thursday.
When they reached Chahnou village the Kuki volunteers stopped and blindfolded them and whisked away from there.
They were then thrashed mercilessly in an unknown location for transporting stones for construction of the barrack for state police commandos.
After about half an hour, the heavily armed volunteers seized the truck and mobile phones and released them with a stern warning not to continue transporting supplies for the police," it stated.
Mentioning that the Moreh police rescued them from Joujang village, it continued that the security forces are in the process to initiate suitable actions against the miscreants.
