Canal re-opened

Social Welfare and Fisheries Minister Heikham Dingo has reopened the Kanto Sabal Makha Loukhong canal which had previously been closed following its contamination due to the leakage of heavy fuel from Leimakhong Power Plant on January 11 .

The Sekmai AC MLA was visiting the canal for an inspection today, according to a statement issued from his office.
Speaking in this connection, Heikham Dingo stated that the canal had been closed to prevent the contaminated water from being used by the locals.
However, the canal was reopened today in the presence of I Shanta, Pradhan, Khurkhul GP and MSPCL official team after consistent laboratory tests conducted by the MSPCL team and Oil Spill Combat Team (OSCT) determined that the water is now safe for use, stated H Dingo.
He added that the reopening of the canal will alleviate the water scarcity woes faced by the people.siting the canal for an inspection today, according to a statement issued from his office.
