MCPCR takes note of state of 4 kids

Taking suo moto cognizance of the pitiable living conditions of four minors at a place in Moirangpurel, Imphal East as captured in a viral video uploaded on Facebook, the Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MCPCR) has instructed Child Welfare Committee (CWC) Imphal East to submit a detailed report.
In the best interest of the children, MCPCR has recommended CWC Imphal East to submit a detailed report of the said four children and measures being prescribed by the CWC to protect and rehabilitate the children, said a statement issued by Keisam Pradipkumar, Chairperson, MCPCR.
The Commission has also recommended that the process for inclusion of the children in Mission Vatsalya Scheme's sponsorship programme be initiated on priority basis.
In addition, the Commission has directed the District Child Protection Unit, Imphal East to assist CWC Imphal East in carrying out the above recommendations.
Chairperson, MCPCR has demanded submission of an action taken report on or before March 9 .
It is worth mentioning that the MCPCR has made it clear that the uploader of the viral video seemed to be unaware of the standard ethical guidelines and norms to be followed while broadcasting, publishing or telecasting of such vulnerable children.
"It is palpable that the video maker seemed to have no malafide intention", MCPCR reiterated.
MCPCR has also appealed to all concerned not to upload videos, photos of destitute children which may result in unrestrained exposure of the children and hurt their emotional integrity, sentiment, privacy, decency and dignity.
