Outreach programme on SVEEP campaign gains significance

An Integrated Communication and Outreach Programme (ICOP) on Systematic Voter's Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) was held today at Keirak Keithel Lampak Community Hall.
The programme was organised by the Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Field Office (FO), Chandel under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India.
Delivering the keynote address of conducting the outreach programme, Communication Field Officer Chandel Mathew SK Bengam said that the programme is focused on sensitizing the eligible voters on the importance of ethical voting and electing responsible leaders for a peaceful and progressive society.
He further informed that similar awareness programmes will be conducted at different places in Chandel, Kakching and Tengnoupal districts to strive for maximum outreach impact among the people.
Pukhrambam Somarendro, Head Associate Professor of English Department, YK College Wangjing and Joint Non Government Voluntary Organisation (JNGVO) Kakching Advisor spoke as the resource person of the programme deliberating on the significance of SVEEP.
A quiz competition was also held and prizes and certificates were distributed to the winners and participants.
