Imphal, July 29 2025:
Assam Rifles on Tuesday organised an integrated awareness programme on forest conservation and hepatitis medical camp at Sita Government High School in Tengnoupal district which had the participation of 40 students.
According to PRO IGAR (S), the programme held on the occasion of World Nature Conservation Day and World Hepatitis Day offered participants a rare opportunity to explore the interconnectedness of environmental health and human well-being.
During the conservation seminar, Assam Rifles personnel partnered with forest officials to underscore the critical importance of safeguarding biodiversity, maintaining robust forest cover and embracing sustainable lifestyles.
Students were urged to recognise their vital role as custodians of the environment and adopt responsible practices to protect their natural heritage.
Parallel to this, the medical camp provided free health screenings along with expert guidance on vaccinations.
Detailed educational sessions focused on hepatitis, elucidating its causes, symptoms and preventivemeasures, while also outlining current treatment options.
Assam Rifles also organised a comprehensive eco-awareness session followed by a cleanliness drive at Komlakhong village, located along the picturesque eastern bank of Loktak Lake.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 55 locals and Assam Rifles personnel, reflecting a unified dedication towards protecting the region's natural heritage.
The initiative aims to sensitise the community to the escalating environmental challenges caused by the rampant use of single-use plastics and careless waste disposal into vital water bodies such as the Imphal River and Loktak Lake, which serve as essential lifelines for ecology and livelihood in the region, the PRO added.
