Torch rally flags concern on drug menace

Thoubal, December 21 2023: A mass peace torch rally was taken out on Thursday by Wangjing Gram Panchayat Apunba Club Organisation (WANGGPACO), a joint body of WHUPU, CKC, FUC, PIONEER, ESWYC, UPSC and YDO in Wangjing area, against drug menace in the state.

The rally which began from Wangjing Canteen ground community hall passed through Heituppokpi, Salungpham and Wangjing Keithel ended at the starting point.

During the rally, the participants chanted slogans 'uproot drug menace', 'we want peace', 'no to use/sale of drugs', 'root out narco-terrorists', etc.

Speaking to media persons, WANGGPACO finance secretary Laishram Manichandra informed that the rally was organised by the seven organisations and meira paibi groups under Wangjing Gram Panchayat to drive home the point that the ethnic violence in the state was instigated by drug dealers and to save the future generation from it scourge.

He also appealed to the government to restore peace and normalcy in the state at the earliest.
