Thoubal, March 20 2025: Super Star Club (SSC), Thoubal Awang Leikai has accused Thoubal Municipal Council (TMC) of compromising structural aesthetics in the construction of Thoubal Keithel and according importance to revenue generation rather than prioritising welfare of the people dependent on it.

Addressing the media at the local community hall on Thursday, SSC publicity secretary Asem Sarat recounted that the main building of Thoubal Keithel was constructed by Simplex Company at par with contemporary needs.

However, since TMC was entrusted to undertake fresh constructions, shops are being Constructed in the open spaces sans proper ventilation and light, said the secretary, adding that in case fire incident in the Keithel, the fire fighters would face serious problems in accessing the market.

Sarat also alleged that TMC instead of worldng on other infrastructural needs of the market like drainage, blacktopping of adjoining roads and parking slots, is only eyeing financial gains.

Demanding immediate halt to construction of new shops and urging authority concerned to look into the matter, he asked the TMC to resolve the issue within five days failing, which Thoubal Awang Leikai public, meira paibi activists and SSC members will launch agitation.
