Imphal, July 30 2025:
Police department has assured the Foothill Naga Coordination Committee (FNCC) that it would examine their grievances with seriousness and take appropriate action.
The assurance came during a meeting held on Monday between senior police officers at police headquarters and representatives of FNCC.
According to a statement issued by the police control room on Tuesday evening, the meeting involved detailed discussions on the concerns raised by FNCC .
Police reiterated their commitment to resolving the matters in a timely and proper manner and appealed to FNCC to lift the indefinite bandh imposed in the foothill areas and instead continue engagement through dialogue to find a peaceful resolution.
FNCC had earlier launched an indefinite road blockade and general strike from the midnight of July 18 across Naga-inhabited foothill regions, protesting the encroachment by Kuki refugees and illegal immigrants on Naga ancestral land.
The organisation had accused the 'refugees' of renaming inter-village roads within traditional Naga areas without consultation or cultural basis, which they described as provocative and unacceptable.
FNCC also raised concerns over the presence of Suspension of Operations (SoO) camps of Kuki militant groups near Naga villages, calling for their immediate dismantling.
The committee said that the camps were a source of fear and insecurity and posed a threat to peace and territorial integrity.
Alleging systematic encroachment, FNCC urged the Naga public to stand in solidarity with the agitation, which it described as a peaceful and resolute effort to protect the rights and land of the Naga people.
