AR celebrates raising day, holds tribute ceremony

The 1st (Lushai Hills) Assam Rifles, one of the oldest and most distinguished battalions in the Assam Rifles celebrated its 174th Raising Day on Tuesday.
In a release, PRO IGAR (S) informed that in commemoration of the historic occasion, the commandant of the 1st Assam Rifles led a solemn ceremony at the War Memorial, paying heartfelt homage to the brave soldiers who have served with dedication and grit throughout the unit's illustrious history.
The veterans equally graced the occasion with their presence at Khatima in Uttarakhand.
Following the tribute event, a Special Sainik Sammelan was organised, providing an opportunity for the officers and soldiers to come together in a spirit of camaraderie.
The gathering was marked by a sense of pride, unity, and shared commitment to the principles that have defined the 1st Assam Rifles for over 170 years, the PRO conveyed.
On the other hand, Assam Rifles organised a wreath laying ceremony at the Battalion War Memorial, Joupi in Chandel district on Tuesday to honour seven brave-hearts of the Battalion who made the supreme sacrifice on this day in the 1965 War.
Lieutenant MD Unival, Lance Naik Tika Ram, Riflemen Bhim Singh, Dhan Singh, Lachhan Singh, Balbir Singh and Ra-ghubir Singh Chhetri made supreme sacrifice during the war in 1965, the PRO added.
