Red Shield dedicates water harvesting tank

Red Shield Division of the Indian Army inaugurated a rainwater harvesting tank and laid water supply pipelines for community empowerment on March 11, 2024 at Taphou Naga village as part of Operation Sadbhavna.
The project included construction of a 4000-litre water tank and laying of pipelines from a water catchment pond for storage and distribution to the Taphou Naga villagers.
The imitative aims to address the village's water scarcity issues, marking a transformative milestone for its residents.
Taphou Naga village has long faced erratic water supply, which is exacerbated during dry season and severely disrupts daily routines and livelihoods.
The event also witnessed the planting of saplings to commemorate the occasion for the village.
The water supply scheme heralds a significant leap towards mitigating the existing challenges and securing a more sustainable water source for the community.
The Indian Army 's unwavering commitment to community development and sustainable practices underscores its dedication to uplifting the lives of those residing in remote areas.
Speaking on the occasion, the deputy commander of 59 Mountain Brigade emphasised the importance of prioritising the project to mitigate the problem of water shortage faced by the people.
He also mentioned different activities carried out by the Red Shield in the area including computer training centre, training the youth who are preparing for CDS and entry to different armed forces, adding that the Indian Army is working with the people to achieve its vision.
P Piju Mac (retired Indian Army) stated in his speech that Senapati Brigade has done a lot for the people of Senapati in different ways, including uniting all the ESMs of Manipur, CDS and NDA coaching at Senapati Brigade, computer training centre at Taphou Naga, facilitating tent and rations to the children of YFCI, providing skill development training at Senapati Brigade HQ including electrical, carpentry, welding, rain water harvesting project at Taphou Naga, sewing machine training at Puni Pfosemai, which is under process, and coaching for upcoming Sainik School entrance examination, which will take place shortly.
S Joseph, president Taphou Naga Youth & Students Organization, delivered the vote of thanks to the army for their yeoman service rendered to the public.
