Court sends murder accused to judicial custody

Imphal, March 12 2024:
The Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal West on Tuesday remanded the three persons arrested in connection with the death of one Nongthombam Ingocha of Langthabal Lep Mayai Leikai under Singjamei Police Station on March 6 to judicial custody till March 23 .
The accused Koijam Rishikanta (49), s/o Imo, Phukhrambam Robert (44), s/o Manao and Langonjam Rajen (62), s/o (L) Kala all residents of Langthabal Lep Mayai Leikai were produced before the Court on completion of their police custody period with a prayer to send them to judicial custody.
The defense counsels, on the other hand, filed a remand objection and prayed for bail of the three accused.
During the hearing, the APP of the State submitted that the three accused always played cards at the residence of the deceased and ended up quarrelling most of the time in inebriated conditions .
From the investigation carried out so far, a prima facie evidence is well established against the accused for house trespass and murdering him mercilessly, the APP said and sought judicial custody remand of all three of them.
The Court, on perusal of the case record and after hearing the submission of APP and the defense counsel, remanded all three of them to judicial custody till March 23 for further investigation of the case.
