Red Shield Division inaugurates rainwater harvesting scheme

In a remarkable initiative towards sustainable water management and community empowerment, the Red Shield Division of the Indian Army unveiled a pioneering Rainwater Harvesting and Supply Scheme at Taphou Naga village yesterday under Operation Sadbhavna.
The initiative included construction of a 4000-litre water tank with laying of pipelines source from a water catchment pond for storage and distribution to the villagers of Taphou Naga with the primary aim to address the persistent water scarcity issues plaguing the village, marking a transformative milestone for its residents.
It may be noted that Taphou Naga village has been facing issues related to erratic water supply, particularly exacerbated during dry seasons hampering daily routines and livelihood for a long time.
The event also witnessed the planting of saplings to commemorate the occasion for the village.
The handing over of the water supply scheme is a significant leap towards mitigating the existing challenges and securing a more sustainable water source for the community.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commander, 59 Mountain Brigade stated that the project has been taken up in priority to address the grave concern of the local populace.
Apart from the above, the Red Shield Division has been taking various welfare activities with the support of the Army veterans, he added.
