KCP bans smokeless tobacco products

Imphal, March 25 2025:
Politburo Standing Committee of the armed Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) imposed a non-negotiable, permanent ban on the transport, trade and consumption of smokeless tobacco products like Talab, Shi-khar and Bombay Pan Masala in Kangleipak/Manipur with immediate effect.
According to a Politburo Standing Committee of KCP statement issued by information and public relations secretary M Punshiba Meitei, the party took the decision to impose a blanket ban on smokeless tobacco products after thoroughly deliberating on the overall impact of trade and consumption of smokeless tobacco products.
The party advised transporters, traders and warehouse owners to immediately cease all activities including transporting, trading and warehousing of smokeless tobacco products in Kangleipak/Manipur.
The KCP statement further warned that there will be no mercy or forgiveness for anyone found defying the ban.
It also appealed to the public, student bodies and local clubs to help end the transport and trade of harmful tobacco products.
