Training on compost production begins

Imphal, March 20 2025:
Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), Manipur Centre in collaboration with Manipur Organic Mission Agency (MOMA), Department of Horticulture and Soil Conservation launched a hands-on training programme for Farmer Producer Company (FPOs) and service providers on 'Quality Compost Production Suitable for Organic Production System' at the conference hall of ICAR, Lamphel on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Horticulture and Soil Conservation director K Devdutta stressed the need for coming up with an organic policy to make Manipur an organic state.
For this, he urged ICAR Manipur to take a proactive role and also stressed the need for strengthening FPOs.
ICAR Manipur Centre head Dr Ch Basudha said that experts would be teaching on how to prepare quality compost in a systematic manner, while emphasising that Manipur has great potential for becoming an organic state.
The inaugural function was attended by MOMA project director Soubam Donald, ICAR Manipur Centre Soil Science scientist DrT Basanta along with other scientists and staff of the Centre.
