ESIC reaches out to North East states, Sikkim

Imphal, July 18 2024:
Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) held a two-day zonal programme at the Assam Administrative Staff College, Guwahati, with the objective to further expand the coverage of ESI Scheme in all the districts of the northeastern states.
The event had brainstorming sessions with various trade union leaders, employers and representatives of employees, labour secretaries, and representatives of governments of the North Eastern states and Sikkim.
According to a statement issued by ESIC regional director (in-charge), all the sessions of the event were chaired by ESIC director general Kamal Kishore Soan.
Commissioner level officers of ESIC HQ as well as Zonal Insurance Commissioner and Medical Commissioner also attended the sessions.
Meetings with employees and employers' representatives were held with the objective of getting their ground-level feedback and suggestions to further improve the service delivery system and healthcare under the ESI Scheme in all the NE states and Sikkim.
Meetings with the secretaries of the BOCW boards of the states were also held for discussion on issues of the construction workers, the statement added.
