Saikul sit-in protests Khamelok incident

Denouncing the attack and burning down of 10 villages in Khamenlok area from June 12 to 14, large numbers people including villagers of Khamenlok area staged a sit-in-protest at Saikul sub-divisional headquarters in Kangpokpi district on Tuesday.
During the sit-in at Saikul playground organised under the aegis of Kuki Women Union, Saikul block the protestors held placards and tricolour from 12 noon till late afternoon.
Various prominent Kuki leaders and Kuki Women Union Saikul leaders spoke at the protest and denounced the attack on Khamenlok and nearby villages while terming the same as a 'calculated state-sponsored design' to annihilate all the Kuki inhabitants and villages of Khamenlok area.
The protesters also questioned the silence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and sought his immediate intervention in bringing solution to the problems of the Kukis.
They also conveyed to the Prime Minister of their pain over his silence which they felt them selves like an 'abandoned' child and chanted slogans like 'Stop the state sponsored attack on the Kukis', 'Permanent solution will only bring peace in Mani pur', 'Zero confidence on N Biren Singh', 'Impose AFSPA in Manipur valley', 'Invoke PR in the state', etc.
The sit- in-protest culmi nated with a prayer by KWU Saikul block leaders.
