Jiribam, June 20 2023:
In a letter addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the All Assam Manipuri Christian Association (AAMCA) has appealed to the political leader to take immediate action to restore peace and harmony in the strife-torn State.
According to a statement, the letter was submitted to Lakhipur SDO (Civil) to be sent over to the Prime Minister.
Expressing concern over the ethnic violence prevailing in their ancestral land of Manipur, AAMCA declared their stand to support the people of Manipur in protecting the territorial integrity of Manipur.
Calling the entire episode that has claimed more than a hundred lives, led to the torching of thousands of houses and left over fifty thousand people displaced from their homesteads as extremely unfortunate, AAMCA opined that this is the first time to witness a clash as severe as this one.
AAMCA also maintained that the administrative authority of Manipur has failed in maintaining the law and order situation and has been totally paralyzed due to the conflict.
Stating that the Association has been earnestly praying for an end to the crisis and restoration of peace in Manipur, AAMCA appealed to the Prime Minister to take up concrete steps to restore order and peace in the strife-torn land.
