40 villages in state declared as ODF Plus

As per the Swachh Bharat Mission (G) Integrated Management Information System (IMIS) data, out of Manipur's total of 2556 villages only 40 have been declared as ODF Plus till December 15.The ranking is given to village that maintains its Open Defecation Free (ODF) status along with implementing either solid or liquid waste management systems.
According to the data, of the 40 ODF Plus designated villages in the state, 14 are aspiring, one village and 25 model villages.
It also mentioned that assets set up for Solid and Liquid Waste Management (SLWM) under SBM (G) Phase-II till December 15 in state include 347 community composite pits, three community bio-gas plants, 111 waste management vehicles, 324 waste collection and segregation centres, 375 community soak pits, leachpits, magic pits, 10 community greywater management systems and 20 Plastic Waste Management Units (PWMUs) .
However, so far no Faecal Sludge Treatment Plant (FSTP) has been constructed in the rural area in the state.
On the other hand, the state has been unable to fully utilise the funds sanctioned by the centre under SBM (G) in the last five years from 2020-21.According to the data, SBM (G) funds sanctioned by central government in 2018-19 for Manipur was Rs 75.06 crore, all of which was utilised; in 2019-20, Rs 86.62 crore was sanctioned, out of which Rs 55.62 was released; in 2020-21, Rs 61.29 crore was sanctioned with Rs 17.51 crore released; in 2021-22, Rs 48.34 crore was sanctioned and Rs 12.09 crore released; and in 2022-23, Rs 51.45 was sanctioned of which Rs 12.86 crore has been released.
