DPF writes off Centre's nod on vital public issues

Democratic People's Front (DPF) president Dr Narengbam Rajiv Kumar has asserted that the party was formed with the objective of driving changes in Manipur without waiting for approval from the centre.
The newly floated regional party held its first public convention on the theme "The Voice of Manipur" at GM Hall here on Wednesday.
Dr Rajiv Kumar said that the Front would not entertain of tolerate political turncoats, adding that all of its members are committed to bringing positive changes in the state.
"Strengthening regional parties is the only way to save the state from the serious issue of illegal immigrants," he stressed and called for collective efforts to prevent Manipur from regressing.
The DPF president also outlined that the primary focus of the party is to raise political awareness amongst the people to curtail the vote-for-cash trend in elections.
"Many potential leaders are unable to contest elections due to financial constraints," he rued, while declaring the Front's stance against supporting candidates on the basis of money, adding that the party's women, youth and student wings would initiate steps to stop such practices.
Dr Rajiv Kumar also revealed that the party plans to field around 36 candidates in the upcoming Manipur Legislative Assembly election including in the hill districts, stating that the party is committed to working towards effecting positive changes for all the communities in the state.
The convention was also attended by social worker Ashang Kasar, DDU former director Dr Raheijuddin Sheikh and other members of the party.
