Imphal, September 10 2023:
Longmai Students' Union (LSU), Rongmei Naga Students' Organisation Manipur (RNSOM) Luangba Luangrean and RNSOM Longmai Luangrian have urged the state government to immediately restore the internet services including mobile internet in all the areas within Noney and Tamenglong districts failing which they will be left with no option but to endorse the proposed agitation along NH-37 called by Rongmei Naga Council Manipur (RNCM).
In a release, LSU, Noney general secretary Jangdai Kamei conveyed that the ban on internet service is not just gross violation of human rights but has adversely affected basic services including, banking, postal, medical emergency, schools and online studies, small businesses, etc., in the said region.
Appealing to the government to chalk up effective measures to restore internet services as soon as possible, LSU pointed out that the whole of Noney and Tamenglong districts is a peace zone and as such no untoward incidents have been reported from any part of these regions since the start of the unfortunate communal clash.
Similarly, RNSOM Luangba Luangrean general secretary Disinlung Kamei & Longmai Luangrian president SK Jeanthuipou appealed to the state government to immediately lift the ban on internet services in the said two districts since these regions are inhabited by the Rongmei Nagas who have been instrumental in the process of restoring peace and harmony in the state and assisting every department in the uninterrupted supply of essential services.
RNSOM further cautioned that if the internet ban is not lifted within a week time then it will answer the call of RNCM for massive agitations along NH-37 .
