Lions Club of Imphal fetes retired teachers

As part of the observance of Teachers' Day 2023, Lions Club of Imphal has honoured five retired teachers in a simple function held at Lions Service Centre, Sangaiprou.
A release issued by Lion Manas Maisnam, secretary Lions Club of Imphal, informed that five retired teachers namely Ningthoujam Dhiren, retired Deputy Commissioner Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti; Thounaojam Gyaneshwar, retired Lecturer Bishnupur Higher Secondary School; Sinam Indrani, retired Principal CC Higher Secondary School; Ayekpam Sangeeta, retired Principal TG Higher Secondary School and Ngangkham Tombi, retired Headmistress, Tendongyan Junior High School were presented with shawl and citations by the Club.

At the event, the teachers expressed that a holistic approach has become necessary to overhaul the education system and this can be achieved if value based curriculum is introduced.
The Lions Peace Poster Contest, 2023 on the theme, "Dare to Dream" was also held at the Service Centre today.
The 1st prize of Rs 5,000 was won by Lanlei Roy Yumkham of Maria Montessori School.
Lion L Ibomcha, chairman Peace Poster Committee said that the 1st Peace Poster Contest was held in 1988 and for over three decades, Lions Clubs all over the world have been sponsoring Lions International Peace Poster contest for children of the age group 11-13 years.
Creating peace posters gives children everywhere the chance to express their visions of peace and inspire the world through art and creativity.
The grand prix winner carries a monetary award of $5,000, he added.
