Women's march demands withdrawal of AR

Imphal, September 10 2023:
A large number of Meira Paibis took out a march to the Chief Minister's bungalow today demanding complete withdrawal of Assam Rifles from Manipur.
Meira Paibis coming from different directions assembled together at Singjamei.
From there, they marched toward the Chief Minister's office but they were blocked by police and RAPF.
Nonetheless, a team of 30 Meira Paibis leaders were given passage and they met Chief Minister N Biren together with BJP Manipur Pradesh president A Sharda and Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker Th Satyabrata.

Giving a report of their meeting with the Chief Minister, one Meira Paibi leader said that they urged the Chief Minister to withdraw Assam Rifles from Manipur completely within the next couple of days.
According to the Meira Paibi leader, the Chief Minister reportedly told them it would be difficult to send away Assam Rifles in the next two/three days but they (Government) have been studying the situation and Assam Rifles was likely to be withdrawn.
"We then urged the Chief Minister to control the Assam Rifles' excessive actions including threats and intimidations to civilians", she conveyed.
"The Chief Minister said yes to our demand", she added.
