Relief camp residents facing trauma: MPMM

Manipur Peace Medical Mission (MPMM) mission head Bipla Bhattachariya has said that most of the displaced people who are in various relief camps both in the hills and valley areas are suffering from trauma.
Speaking to media persons on the sidelines of conducting free health camps by Jan Andolan, Kolkata, West Bengal with support from Sramajibi Hospital, Kolkata in five relief camps opened in Churachandpur district from September 4 till 7, at Moirang College on Friday and at Wangkhei High School relief camp in collaboration with AMUCO on Saturday, Bipla informed that as per the Jan Andolan convention held on August 9 in Kolkata those present resolved to send a medical mission to Manipur followed by formation of MPMM on August 10 .
The Mission's 13-mem-ber medical team carried out health check-ups and handed out medicines to 62 persons staying in relief centres in Churachandpur, 65 at Moirang College and around 50 at Wangkhei High School, he added.
Bipla said that as there were tell-tale signs of almost all the displaced people living in relief camps experiencing trauma and healthcare service and facilities, the government authorities must do the needful to ease their hardships at the soonest possible.
He also assured to conduct similar camps in the state in the coming days.
