District level volleyball tourney concludes; Khabung Karong, SSC win titles

Khabung Karong and Senapati Sporting Club emerged champions in the District Level Men & Women's Open Volleyball Tournament at Khabung Karong on Saturday.
The tournament that had commenced on September 7 was organised by the Senapati District Volleyball Association (SDVA), which is affiliated to Senapati District Olympic Association, Manipur (SDOAM) .
The opening ceremony was opened by Mamoni Doley, DC Senapati, on September 7 .
During the opening event, the DC Senapati assured that the selected best players of both genders will be sent to state level volleyball tournament: D Bismark, president Senapati District Volleyball Association (SDVA), in his welcome note stated that the main objective of the tournament was to select the best players from the district to represent the district at the state level volleyball tournament scheduled for September 20-27.14 players from the district had reportedly represented at the national level in the past.
The tournament was participated by 14 teams from men's category and 9 teams from women of the district.
While the Khabung Karong bagged championship title in the men's volleyball, Consiglieres, Mao Pungdung were the runners-up.
The women's volleyball tournament was won by the Senapati Sporting Club while MKS(A) were the runners-up.
A cash prize of Rs.30,000, certificates and trophy were awarded to both the cham pions while Rs 20,000, certificates and trophy were awarded to the runners-up teams.
The organising team expressed gratitude to all prize donors, match patrons and the host club for making the tournament a success.
For men's volleyball event, best spiker prize was awarded to P Dziivavio, TNK, best setter to Hriiyikho, Consiglieres, Mao, and player of the tournament to K Duve of Khabung Karong.
For women's event, best spiker prize went to Pung-dila, MKS(A), best setter to Poina, MKS(A), and player of the tournament to Beveinai, Senapati Sporting Club.
