Health camp held at Ukhrul villages

Sponsored by Veterinary & Animal Husbandry minister Khashim Vashum, a one-day awareness programme on drug abuse was held at Hoomi village while a two-day health camp was conducted at Hoomi and Halang villages in Ukhrul district on Sunday and Monday.
The programmes were organised jointly by Weaker Community's Action for Development (WCAD), District AIDS Prevention Control Unit (DAPCU), police department, Society for Promotion of Youth and Masses (SPYM), Participatory Action for Sustainable Development Organisation (PASDO), Citizens Alliance for Re-empowerment (CARE), Social Network Model (SNM), and Social Integrated Development Organisation (SIDO) .
The health camp at Hoomi and Halang villages were led by SIDO secretary Kulajit Maisnam and WCAD president Ngamreiwung Horam with Dr Vikash and Dr Akuli examining over 600 persons who turned up at the camp.
Speaking at the programme, Ukhrul additional SP Ringthing Hongchui elaborated on social issues caused due to drug abuse, while Ukhrul SNM Vaomi Shang briefed the attendees on drug overdose management and SIDO secretary Kulajit Maisnam elaborated on substance addiction and necessity of treatment.
