Outreach programme on SVEEP held

A one-day Integrated Communication and Outreach Programme (ICOP) on Systematic Voter's Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) was organised at S Kula Women's College, Nambol today.
The ICOP was organised by the Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Regional Office, Imphal under the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India, said a release.
It was attended by Dr W Robindro Singh, Principal, S Kula Women's College; Ch Komolini Devi, Assistant Professor, Department Of Political Science and Dr S Bhogendro Singh, Assistant professor, Department of Sociology as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, Ch Komolini Devi said that the Election Commission of India offers online voter registration for Indian citizens who have attained the age of 18 on the qualifying date i.e on January 1, April 1, July 1 and October 1 of the year of revision of electoral roll.

"Citizens can enroll himself/herself as General Voter and fill Form 6 online at National Voters' Service Portal", she added.
The role of citizens in electing its representatives in the Government was also discussed along with other topics such as ethical voting, EVM, Voter Verified Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT), role of presiding officer, birth of democracy, etc.
An on-the-spot quiz contest was held and prizes along with certificates were handed over to the winners.
Certificate of participation was also distributed to the attendees.
The programme culminated with cultural performances by M/s Sanakhuthek, a private registered troupe of CBC, RO, Imphal.
