Senapati, March 20 2025:
Bringing smiles for many villagers, a team of Senapati District Medical Department led by chief medical officer (CMO) Dr Percy Sumpi conducted the first ever one day combined medical camp at Rajaimei village under Willong sub-division on Thursday.
For a remote village far from development and government facilities, the camp screened 87 villagers with 27 diagnosed with hypertension & diabetes mellitus.
The 15-member medical team including CMO, DMO, DPM, DTBO and others, also conducted an awareness programme on NCD, TB, dengue, malaria, new-born care and Other diseases.

The doctors appealed to newly diagnosed, as well as patients suffering from hypertension and diabetes, who underwent treatment, for regular follow up at the nearest PHCs or the district hospital.
In addition to offering treatments, the team also provided medicines and consultations to the villagers.
According to village chairman Ramba Moses, such mega medical camp has brought happiness to the villagers who could not access medical facilities as no doctor or nurse is posted in the village till date despite repeated petitions in the past.
He, however, hastened that doctors from Ben-dramei PHC use to periodically visit to tend to healthcare needs of the villagers.
Meanwhile, village secretary H Benjamin Kangba appealed to the CMO to conduct such camps in the future as well and requested the CMO to look into the petition for posting regular doctor and nurse with medical items in the newly built PHSC as the village is prone to diseases.
Rajaimei is a revenue village 52 Km away from Senapati town.
Since the first settlement in 1958, it has registered 120 household with over 700 population as on date.
Connected via Maram-Peren road (NH-129/A) and Senapati-Oklong road, the village is lagging far behind in terms of infrastructure and basic amenities like medical service, school, sports facilities, IVR roads, solar energy, community infrastructure and proper housing.
The PMGSY road which assures proper connectivity in remote areas has not been repaired since it was black topped some years ago.
The repeated demands to repair the landslide prone areas has fallen on deaf ears, rued the villagers.
